Senior Engineering Manager

Job description

Purpose Statement: To manage the core technology, direct the activities of a functional engineering team and provide technical project oversight within Plexus Engineering Solutions.

An active contributor in shaping the culture on their team and at their site.

Provides strategic peer leadership while partnering with Director of Engineering and other Senior Management in areas of staffing, training and development to ensure long-range goals and objectives are met.

Plans and manages company projects and/or PLXS-ENG customer projects ensuring that they fall within budget and on schedule.

Key Job Accountabilities:

Quality Execution: Ensures technical success of programs by anticipating customer needs, staffing programs with appropriate resourcing, and directing continuous improvement of tools and processes.

Understands and is able to identify leading indicators of project challenges, and takes mitigating actions as necessary.

Maintains and improves the Quality Management System through process ownership and CAPA resolution.

Talent Acquisition and Development: Expands and grows technical and leadership competencies by hiring diverse and high potential talent that enhances our people, product and process capabilities.

Establishes and achieves group growth objectives through headcount growth and upskilling employee skillsets needed to support ongoing customer demands.

Guides, trains and provides strategic leadership to peers to ensure long-range goals and objectives are met.

Responsible to exemplify and hold their team accountable to demonstrating the Plexus Core Values.

Leader will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning, and ensuring their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

Cost Management: Drives non-billable hours optimization (NBHO), minimizing administrative tasks and maximizing value-add activities within functional team.

Manages headcount and flex staffing model effectively to meet needs of customers and business.

Drives CapEx planning for functional team.

Partners with site Director of Engineering to manage variable and fixed costs to maximize site profitability.

Project Management: Effectively manages the team resources and leads company projects and/or PLXS-ENG customer projects to a successful execution.

This includes partnering with the engineering team to identify solutions to meet the project needs.

Manages expectations regarding project scope, schedule, budget, risks, deliverables, and any changes to the original proposal.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

Education/Experience Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field is required.

Experience of Five (5) years of related experience is required; Two (2) years of related industry experience is preferred and highly desirable.

Industry experience of Five (5) years is required for the position, including Two (2) years of preferred of Project Management experience, and Two (2) years preferred experience with Plexus (or equivalent service industry), assuming education requirements are met.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.
